Tuckman

The model describes five stages (forming, storming, norming, performing and adjouring) of group development.

Forming:
This is where the group members learn about each other and the objective they have been set.
Storming:
The group members then work with each other to establish how to achieve the  task.  This forms the structure of the group in which struggles for group status can cause conflict and confrontation.
Norming:
Group members form together to establish how they will achieve their task; confirming best forms of communication and identifying strengths and weaknesses within the group.
Performing:
The members of the group then come together as a group and implement their plan, achieving flexibility, building relationships and teamwork.
Adjourning:
When the project is completed, the group disbands. This phase was added when Tuckman and Jensen updated their original review of the literature in 1977.

Each of the five stages in the Forming-storming-norming-performing-adjourning model involves  interpersonal relationships and task behaviours

Tuckman's theory has been applied to the Toy Story characters (see Teamwork page)
